ABOUT MATHSMAXING

Learn from someone who
genuinely understands maths.

MathsMaxing exists to help students develop the understanding, confidence and mathematical ability to achieve more than they thought possible.

Sammy Beasley, founder and maths tutor at MathsMaxing

HI, I'M SAMMY

I love mathematics.
I love teaching it even more.

I have been teaching mathematics privately for over six years, working with students across the full range of abilities. Some students have needed help building the foundations and working towards a pass. Others have been aiming for the very highest grades and looking to push their understanding further.

What I find most rewarding is seeing the change that happens when a student begins to believe that they can do mathematics. The confidence that develops from understanding a difficult concept can transform not only their grades, but their entire attitude towards the subject.

I have had a 100% pass rate with students I have prepared for examinations, and have seen students go on to achieve results well beyond the grades they originally thought were possible.

MATHEMATICS BEYOND THE CLASSROOM

Students learn from someone who is actively doing mathematics.

Alongside tutoring, I currently work as an independent researcher in quantum computing. I am working alongside Professor Ashley Montanaro, Professor of Quantum Computing at the University of Bristol and Co-Founder and CEO of Phasecraft, on research into quantum algorithms for the graph isomorphism problem.

My research involves advanced mathematics, quantum computing and algorithm design. This gives me a deep and constantly developing understanding of mathematics far beyond the school curriculum.

I believe that this depth of understanding makes a real difference when teaching. I am not simply teaching students procedures from a textbook. I genuinely understand the mathematics behind the ideas I teach.

MY TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

The goal is not simply to
get the answer.

The goal is to understand the mathematics well enough that the next problem becomes easier.

STUDENT EXPERIENCES

The best results are felt as well as measured.

Video testimonials from students and families will be added here soon.

WHAT MAKES THE DIFFERENCE

Every student is different.
The teaching should be too.

One of the most important parts of tutoring is identifying what is actually holding a student back. The answer is not always simply a lack of knowledge.

Identify the problem

Understand exactly what the student knows, what they find difficult and where their confidence has been affected.

Find the right explanation

Explain concepts in different ways until the mathematics genuinely makes sense to the individual student.

Build confidence

Help students experience success with problems that previously seemed impossible.

Make it last

Develop the understanding and independence needed to continue making progress outside the tutoring session.

Ready to maximise your maths?

Whether you are looking to build confidence, prepare for an important examination or aim for the very highest grades, the right support can make a significant difference.
